We are happy to inform you that CMIR has joined The British Acupuncture Federation (BAF).
The Federation currently consists of six professional acupuncture organisations, each with similar goals and outlooks, yet representing a diversity of practitioner styles.
The member organisations are:
BAF only accepts member organisations which have codes of ethics and standards of conduct. These organisations are committed to the future of the acupuncture and to bringing the benefits of acupuncture to as many people as possible.
The main aim of the Federation is to promote acupuncture in its many forms. You can see the diversity of practice of the organisations involved; BAF's ethos being for all acupuncturists to work together. This was recommended in a House of Lords report chaired by Lord Waton of Detchant in 2000. Click here to read a copy of the report.
We have been talking and working with these organisations for a number of years with a view to uniting the profession and offering a unified voice for all acupuncture modalities.
BAF is currently working towards offering the registrants and individuals within member organisations the following benefits:
It will have parliamentary links, will organize and share CPD courses and a variety of educational lectures to maintain the highest standard of practitioners. Additionally BAF aims to be present at events such as health conventions.
Have a look at the website for more information or join the Facebook page. You will see that Cherie Blair QC has issued a statement in full support of BAF and its aims.
If you would like to get more involved or have comments or ideas for us, do please get in touch.
Kind regards,
Don Mei
